The Empire Club Murders

One illustrious club. Five notorious men. For a killer, five potential targets.

London, 1930. A battered body is found dumped on Craynebrook common. No name, no obvious motive, and no one missing him.

The case is given to newly promoted Detective Inspector Matthew Stannard. All the clues lead to the Empire Club, an exclusive establishment for the town's elite, and to a group of men nicknamed The Five.

These men rule the club like kings, and allow no one to get in their way, especially a detective asking awkward questions. His superior, keen to avoid a scandal, warns Matthew to tread carefully.

Treading carefully has never been Matthew’s style. He follows the evidence and is prepared to turn over every stone at the Empire Club.

But is the town ready for what might crawl out?
